Hurricanes have announced the signing of scrumhalf Jordi Viljoen and lock Tom Allen ahead of the 2025 season.

Viljoen, who attended the prestigious rugby schools Palmerston North Boys' High School and Hastings Boys' High School, has been fully promoted to the squad after spending 2023 on a National Development Contract. Viljoen began the 2024 season in the extended training group and made his debut against the Western Force in the first week.

The Manawatu Turbos player expressed his eagerness to build on the lessons learned over the past two seasons with the team, during which he made three appearances for the senior side.

“it’s a massive blessing for me to sign with the Hurricanes, it’s been an amazing season on and off the field. To be able to follow in my dad’s footsteps and pave my own path has been an absolute privilege.”

Viljoen added, “Coming through the Hurricanes pathway, this has always been a goal of mine, so to be able to commit for the next two seasons is awesome.”

Meanwhile, Allen is on his second year with New Zealand Under 20 side.

“Rugby has been a big part of my life, and to be able to sign a full-time contract with the Hurricanes is a great start. Spending this year on an NDC (National Development Contract) has been great for my growth as a player and a person, so to be able to be in this environment for the next few seasons is exciting.”

Apart from the duo, the club also confirmed that Bailyn Sullivan and Pouri Rakete-Stones have re-signed with the club for the 2025 season.
