Chiefs hooker Samisoni Taukei'aho is doubtful for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific final against Blues to be played at Eden Park on Saturday due to injury.

Taukei'aho was forced to leave field in the 23rd minute of Chiefs' semi-final game against Hurricanes and was later confirmed to have suffered an Achilles injury.

Chiefs head coach coach Clayton McMillan after the game admitted that the injury looked serious.

“It looks like it’s going to be pretty serious, which is unfortunate not just for us but for him and probably his All Blacks prospects for the immediate future,” McMillan told Newstalk ZB’s Jason Pine.

Meanwhile, reserve hooker Bradley Slater, who replaced Taukei'aho is also under doubt after suffering a knee injury during the last weekend's encounter.

“Bradley Slater is still a bit of an unknown.

“We’re hopeful that it’s just a minor MCL that will loosen up and with a couple of rolls of strapping tape, he might be able to get back out there next week.”
