Dragons have strengthened their front row options by securing the short-term loan of loosehead prop Cameron Jones from Ospreys.

The 23-year-old will join the squad immediately, providing additional depth ahead of the upcoming BKT United Rugby Championship clash against Emirates Lions at Rodney Parade this weekend.

Jones, who is a part of Ospreys' senior setup and made his debut for the club in the EPCR Challenge Cup last season. The former Wales Under-20 international also gained valuable experience earlier this year during a loan spell with South Africa’s Toyota Cheetahs.

A product of Gowerton RFC, Jones has represented Wales at Under-20 level, making nine appearances and scoring a try in the final game against Scotland during the 2021 championship held at Cardiff Arms Park.

The loan agreement between Dragons RFC and Ospreys will see Jones join the Men of Gwent as they prepare for the next phase of their URC campaign. His addition is expected to bring a physical presence and bolster the team’s front row resources as they look to build momentum in the competition.

“We’re pleased to be able to bring in Cameron on a short-term loan and our thanks go to Toby Booth and Ospreys for help in facilitating this move that will benefit all parties," Dragons head coach Dai Flanagan said to the club's official website.

“Cameron is highly regarded at Ospreys and will give us much needed depth to our front row with a number of players currently sidelined through injured.”
