Dragons have announced that tighthead prop Dmitri Arhip has signed a new contract with the Welsh province.

His signing follows after the likes of Leon Brown, Chris Coleman, Rodrigo Martinez, Luke Yendle and James Benjamin have also signed contract extension with Dragons.

Arhip joined Dragons last season on a short-term contract but now has extended his stay until the end of the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The 35-year-old started his professional rugby career with Enisei-STM and moved to Ospreys in 2012. After making close to 100 appearances for Ospreys, he made a switch to Cardiff in 2018.

“It’s great news that Dmitri has agreed new terms with us. He is a rock-solid performer, a total professional and vastly experienced tighthead who adds a huge amount to our squad," said head coach Dai Flanagan.

“His outstanding performance off the bench in our final game of the season against Scarlets really showcased what he is all about. He was destructive in the scrum and showed our fans what he is all about.

“We are pleased that a number of our talented front rowers have also agreed new deals,” added Flanagan.

“We’re excited to see them continue their journey with us and they understand there is a very real expectation on them to kick on and perform.”
