Ben Volavola joins Leicester Tigers ahead of 2024/25 season

Leicester Tigers have announced the signing of Fiji international Ben Volavola ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The 33-year-old, who can play at fullback as well as fly-half will link up with head coach Michael Cheika after the duo worked together during their time with Waratahs.

Prior to joining the Tigers, Volavola spent seven seasons in the Top 14 where he represented Bordeaux Begles, Racing, Perpignan and Agen. He also had featured for Waratahs, Melbourne Rebels and Crusaders in Super Rugby.

Having represented Australia Under 20 side in the past, Volavola's Test debut came against Fiji in 2015 and has played 38 times for them scoring over 200 points.

“We’re very pleased to be able to add a player of Ben’s experience and quality to the squad," said Leicester head coach Michael Cheika.

“Ben’s knowledge of northern-hemisphere rugby from his time in France is a plus, and his experience at international level is invaluable. I know he’s a man of good character and will add value to our environment.”

On joining Leicester Tigers, Volavola said: “I am honoured and excited to join this club, and this talented group.”

“I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity and after speaking to (Michael), I jumped at the chance to come to Leicester and I’m excited to see what we can do this season.”
