SANZAAR have confirmed that Beauden Barrett will be ineligible to represent Blues in the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific play-offs.

Barrett, who has played 123 Tests for the All Blacks was on a sabbatical joining Japan bound Toyota Verblitz this season.

Even though, he has returned back to training with Blues earlier in the month, the Super Rugby organisers have deemed the 33-year-old ineligible to be part of the club's remaining campaign.

Blues were hoping that the veteran All Black could replace fullback Zarn Sullivan, who is sidelined with a knee injury.

“Beauden Barrett was not able to meet the stipulated requirements for dispensation and as such he has been ruled ineligible for Super Rugby Finals,” said tournament director Matt Barlow in a statement.

Blues currently are at the top of the Super Rugby Pacific table with 11 wins from 13 matches. They will be taking on Chiefs in the upcoming round on 1st June at Eden Park.
