Toulon have announced that they have temporarily suspended fullback Melvyn Jaminet following his racist comment.

He was already suspended for 34 weeks and fined €30,000 by the French Rugby Federation after he posted a video on his Instagram account in which he was heard saying: "The first Arab I come across, I'll throw him a headbutt."

Jaminet’s outburst occurred just hours before two other members of France’s squad in Argentina, Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou, were accused of sexual assault.

Toulon announced that Jaminet has agreed to participate in community service, which will reduce his ban by eight weeks, meaning he will not play again until next year.

“Whatever the circumstances that led to the incident, Toulon suffered considerable damage to their image and interests as much for their supporters as their players and employees,” said Toulon in a statement released.

Toulon will kick-start their Top 14 campaign with a clash against La Rochelle on 8th September.
