Loose forward Samipeni Finau has recommitted his future with New Zealand Rugby and Super Rugby club Chiefs at least until the end of the 2026 season.

Finau made his professional rugby debut with Waikato in 2019 and went on to make his Super Rugby debut with Chiefs two years later.

The 25-year-old made his senior test debut in a Bledisloe Cup test match in August 2023 and also started in both the home Tests against England at home this year.

Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan is delighted with Finau remaining with the club for next two seasons.

"He has put in a lot of effort over the last few years to go from a relatively raw-boned athlete finding his feet in the professional ranks to becoming an All Black," McMillan said.

"As a Chief, he consistently has a positive influence on our game through his athleticism and desire for combat on both sides of the ball.

"He provides a good balance amongst our other loose forwards, and we know at his young age his best years are all in front of him. We are excited to be part of that journey."
