Bristol Bears fullback Max Malins has been voted as Gallagher Premiership’s Player of the Month for September, securing 33% of the public vote in a competitive poll.

Malins edged out Bath Rugby centre duo Will Butt and Ollie Lawrence, as well as Saracens flanker Andy Onyeama-Christie, to claim the prestigious accolade.

The 27-year-old England international has made an electrifying start to the 2024/25 season, topping the try-scoring charts after two rounds of action.

Malins scored two tries in Bristol’s opening round victory against Newcastle Falcons and added another two tries along with two try assists in a thrilling West Country clash against Gloucester Rugby in Round 2.

His impressive performances see him ranked among the top ten players in several key categories, including carries, metres made, defenders beaten, and line breaks.

This strong form has solidified his place as a standout performer and keeps him in contention for a return to the England setup, as he looks to add to his 22 international caps.

Malins’ impact on the field and consistent scoring ability have been crucial for Bristol Bears, setting the tone for a promising season ahead in the Gallagher Premiership.

“It is a pleasure to present the Gallagher Player of The Month trophy to Max who has played brilliantly so far this season," said Chris Fishwick of Gallagher’s Bristol office.

"Bristol Bears are off to a promising start, having recently won against Newcastle Falcons, and Max has certainly been keeping momentum behind the team.

"Colleagues in our Bristol office will be rallying behind Bears this season and we wish them the best of luck.”
