Gloucester Rugby suffered a heavy 55-31 defeat to Bath Rugby in Round 4 of the Gallagher Premiership at Kingsholm.

Despite leading at halftime, Gloucester could not withstand Bath's relentless second-half performance, which saw the visitors score 38 points and leave with a dominant victory.

Bath took the lead early when prop Beno Obano crossed the line after just five minutes, finishing a neat tap move. Fly-half Finn Russell converted, giving Bath a 7-0 advantage.

Gloucester quickly replied with a try of their own, as Josh Hathaway’s break allowed Max Llewellyn to score. Santi Carreras, in his first appearance of the season, added the extras to level the score at 7-7.

Russell edged Bath ahead again with a penalty, but Gloucester’s powerful maul almost led to another score, only for Bath to escape without a card.

Gloucester soon capitalized, however, with Tomos Williams and Charlie Atkinson both crossing the line, putting the home side up 21-7 after Carreras converted both tries.

Bath began their comeback late in the first half, as Finn Russell added a try and conversion to close the gap to 24-17.

Gloucester’s lead evaporated after halftime, with Obano scoring again for Bath, followed by a penalty try awarded after Charlie Atkinson was sent to the sin bin. Bath made full use of their numerical advantage, extending their lead to 36-24.

Despite a late try from Gloucester’s Ollie Thorley to secure a bonus point, Bath sealed their victory with further tries from Tom de Glanville, Ollie Lawrence, and Jaco Coetzee, ensuring a comprehensive 55-31 win.

Bath’s impressive second-half performance secured a deserved victory, leaving Gloucester to reflect on a game that slipped away in the final stages.
