Bulls wing Canan Moodie ruled out of URC quarter-final against Benetton

Bulls have suffered an injury blow ahead of the United Rugby Championship quarter-final game against Benetton at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday with utility back Canan Moodie ruled out of the encounter.

Moodie is sidelined with an unknown injury but it is understood that the 21-year-old played with heavy strapping on his leg in the last few games.

He is set to be replaced by Sebastian de Klerk on the wing.

Earlier, Moodie said Bulls should be wary of the Italian side as they look to progress to the semi-final.

“They are a good team with lots of Italian international players who bring cool heads to the team. We don’t take them lightly, and we know they are not going to be an easy team [to beat],” the Springbok back said.

“We played them about three weeks ago but they have international players who know these situations well and know how to function under pressure. In the playoffs you want to start well, especially when you are playing at altitude.

“You want teams to get tired, but they would have learnt from the match we played against them a few weeks ago to slow the game down and thrive.”
