Northampton Saints have announced the signing of loose-head prop Tom West from Premiership rivals Saracens ahead of the 2024/25 season.

West started his professional rugby career with Wasps in 2016 after graduating through the club's academy. He also had loan stints with Henley Hawks and Nottingham Rugby.

The 28-year-old made 78 appearances for Wasps before the club entered into administration. He had a short-term contract with Leicester Tigers at the end of the 2022/23 season before moving to Saracens.

He has overall made 11 appearances for the Saracens this campaign and also had represented England Under 20 side in the past.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to join Saints,” said West to the club's official website.

“The Club is playing some fantastic rugby at the moment and on a personal level I got a great feeling about playing in Northampton from speaking to Phil Dowson and Matt Ferguson.

“I’m at a point in my career where I want to compete to play regularly, and I’m really looking forward to trying to grow my game with the coaches at Saints – who have a great record of helping players improve and hit their potential.”

Northampton director of rugby Phil Dowson is delighted with the signing of West.

"There are some big changes coming in our loose-head department next season with Alex and Ethan Waller retiring, so we're delighted to be bringing Tom into the squad.

"Tom is a guy with a great attitude who is really keen to improve and compete. He's a really physical player who has played a lot of Premiership matches and he still has some growth in him as well."
