NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu have announced the signing of Wales fly-half Rhys Patchell ahead of the new season.

A product of Cardiff Academy, Patchell made his senior debut with the Welsh provincial side in 2011 and went on to play for them in 83 games scoring over 600 points.

The 31-year-old moved to rivals Scarlets in 2016 and was part of the side that went on to win the Pro 12 title in the 2016/17 season.

Patchell went on to sign for Super Rugby club Highlanders in the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season. In the process, he became the first Welsh player to leave Wales to sign for a Super Rugby side in New Zealand.

He made his international debut for Wales in 2013 and was part of the squad that competed in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Patchell currently has 22 caps to his name which will keep him ineligible to represent Wales due to the Welsh Rugby Union's policy of not selecting players plying trade overseas with less than 25 Test appearances.
