Japan head coach Eddie Jones said he is positive about his side's chances despite losing all the three Tests this year.

Jones is currently on his second stint with the Brave Blossoms having previously coached them between 2012 and 2015. He was removed from England's coaching role in 2022 and also parted ways with the Wallabies after a poor show in the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

His second stint with Japan also didn't start positively as they lost to England 17-52 after they were edged out by Georgia 23-25. They also succumbed to a 14-42 loss to Italy last weekend.

"A tough start. It's always tough to start with losses. But I am really optimistic about the direction of the team," said Jones.

"I know everyone is disappointed. I'm disappointed with the results but I'm not disappointed with the direction of the team," the former England and Australia coach said in Tokyo.

"We knew that post the World Cup (Japan) had an old team, and we knew we had to change the team.

"Changing the team means you bring in younger players and they just need time, they need guidance and they need patience," he added.
