France have been dealt a blow ahead of their upcoming South America tour with fly-half Louis Carbonel ruled out due to a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old was initially named in part of the 42-man squad named by head coach Fabien Galthie but now has been replaced by Stade Francais' Joris Segonds.

Carbonel made his international Test debut for the Les Bleus in 2020 and has five appearances with the last coming in July 2021. He also won the World Rugby Under 20 Championship two times for France Under 20 side in 2018 and 2019.

France will be facing Argentina in a two-game Test series on 6th and 13th July which will be separated by a non Test game against Uruguay on 10th July.
