Australia have further slipped in the World Rugby Rankings following their recent defeat in the fourth round of the Rugby Championship in Santa Fe on Saturday.

Having sealed a thrilling 20-19 win over the Pumas last week, Australia started the game securing a 3-20 lead in the first 30 minutes before Argentina made a dramatic comeback scoring a nine-try riot as they completed a 67-27 victory to boost their campaign.

This was also the third defeat for the Wallabies in four matches as they are languishing at the bottom of the table. It was the most points the Wallabies have conceded in the history of test rugby and their second heaviest defeat of all time

As a result, Australia have lost 0.92 rating points as they slipped one position down to ninth place with Italy moving up to eighth. The win has saw Argentina consolidate their 7th position with their difference with the 6th placed Scotland now reduced to 0.33 rating points.

Meanwhile, South Africa's 18-12 win over New Zealand in Cape Town saw them consolidate their position at the top of the table. The victory saw them increase their lead over second placed Ireland to 1.46 rating points while the All Blacks are at third after losing both their matches against the Springboks with a reduced rating of 88.25.
