Sale Sharks have announced that fly-half Rob du Preez has signed a new contract with the Gallagher Premiership club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Born in Durban, du Preez made his professional rugby debut with provincial side Western Province in 2014 before making his Super Rugby debut with Stormers a year later.

The 30-year-old made a switch to Sharks in 2018 before joining Sale Sharks ahead of the 2018/19 season. He now follows the likes of his brothers Jean-Luc and Dan in signing a contract extension with Sale Sharks for the next two seasons.

Du Preez has overall gone on to make 134 appearances for Sale Sharks scoring close to 800 points. He made his test debut for the Springboks in 2018 and also featured for South Africa Under 20 and Barbarians sides.

“I’m massively excited to be a part of this group for the next two seasons. I was already committed for next season, but when I was offered an extra year it was an easy decision. My wife and I have loved our time in Manchester," he told the club's official website.

“I truly believe that with the group of players we have going forward, we have what it takes to win something in the next couple of years, and to be a part of that is really exciting.

“I look forward to making more memories on and off the field with Sale Sharks and in Manchester.”
