Newcastle Falcons have bolstered their senior academy squad by signing centre Cameron Ellis, flanker Harrison Wood, and prop Oscar Stott on one-year contracts.

The trio impressed during pre-season trials, earning their spots in the club’s development pathway.

Cameron Ellis, a 20-year-old centre currently studying at Newcastle University, joins the Falcons after coming through London Irish’s academy. A former Harrow School student, Ellis was instrumental in helping London Irish secure the Premiership U18s Academy League title in 2023.

Harrison Wood, an 18-year-old flanker from Edinburgh, has already made a name for himself as a Scotland Under-18s international. He has represented George Watson’s College and Watsonians RFC, demonstrating versatility by excelling on both flanks.

Rounding out the new additions is 22-year-old loose-head prop Oscar Stott. Capped by England Students in 2023, Stott played a key role in their victory against France. Hailing from York, Stott also features for Durham University in the BUCS Super Rugby competition, where he has showcased his scrummaging prowess.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Steve Diamond praised the recruits’ dedication and potential: “They’ve worked really hard and deserve their shot.

“We’ll always keep an open mind on recruitment, we’ll cast the net far and wide and we’ll reward lads who come in and show us that they’ve got something about them.

“There’s a lot of hard work ahead for Cam, Harrison and Oscar to push on in this environment and take the next steps, but they’ve got a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to seeing how they progress.”
