New Zealand head coach Scott Robertson has recalled former captain Sam Cane to the matchday squad for the upcoming second round Rugby Championship game against Argentina at Eden Park.

Cane has announced that he will be retiring from international rugby at the end of the year but has been named on the bench by Roberson as they look to return back to winning ways after losing the first game against the Pumas in Wellington.

The starting line up as four changes with Will Jordan coming at right wing with Sevu Reece dropping out of the matchday squad while Caleb Clarke comes in for Mark Tele'a who drops to the bench.

Rieko Ioane returns back to outside centre forming midfield partnership with Jordie Barrett while Damian McKenzie will take up the kicking responsibility with TJ Perenara at scrum half.

While the back row and second row sees no change, Tamaiti Williams comes in the front row replacing Ethan De Groot, who is sidelined with a neck injury.

"We've reflected deeply on our performance and our preparation individually and collectively is something we have all owned," Robertson said.

"Our intent and focus has shifted solely to Eden Park."
