England’s Red Roses have made three changes to their lineup ahead of the WXV1 championship decider against hosts Canada on Saturday.

Head coach John Mitchell has adjusted his squad to enhance the team’s performance in the crucial clash in Vancouver, where both teams will battle for the title.

One change has been made in the backs, with Bo Westcombe-Evans set to start on the wing in place of the in-form Abby Dow, who is currently following return-to-play protocols after suffering a suspected concussion during England's victory over New Zealand. The inclusion of the 22-year-old Westcombe-Evans marks her second Test cap for the Red Roses.

In the forwards, lock Rosie Galligan and blindside flanker Maddie Feaunati have been named in the starting lineup, pushing Abbie Ward and Morwenna Talling to the replacements bench. Galligan’s inclusion is expected to strengthen England’s lineout options, while Feaunati will add fresh energy in the back row.

The Red Roses have been in dominant form throughout the WXV1 tournament. They began their campaign with a resounding 61-21 win over the USA, showcasing their depth and skill with eight different players scoring tries. This was followed by a convincing 49-31 victory over New Zealand’s Black Ferns in Round 2, demonstrating their attacking prowess and defensive resilience.

"Last weekend was an outstanding example of improvement within the group," Mitchell said.

"We want to deliver another high-standard performance against Canada. We remain focused on the challenge that awaits and we are ready to attack it."

Meanwhile, hosts Canada have also shown their strength, winning both of their matches comprehensively against France and Ireland.
