All Blacks first five-eighths Damian McKenzie is expecting a stiff battle against Argentina when the two teams lock horns with each other in the opening round of the Rugby Championship at Sky Stadium on Saturday.

Since 2020, the Pumas have registered two wins against the All Blacks having sealed a 15-25 victory in Sydney followed by another win in Christchurch in 2022.

"They're a passionate side, a passionate country, and the way they play, they've got some elusive backs.

"We know when they come to New Zealand, they're going to throw everything at us which we're ready for, and it's going to be an exciting challenge.

"It's about matching them physically and trying to exploit areas where we can."

New Zealand head coach Scott Robertson has included skipper Sam Cane in the squad despite the former All Blacks captain announcing his decision to retire at end of the year and McKenzie had high praises for his former skipper.

"Sammy's had a massive career in New Zealand with the All Backs and he'll want to go out on a high note, and just to have his experience and leadership around the group, you can't put a price on that.

"He's been great to have back in the squad and is a good man to have around bouncing ideas off."
