New Zealand great Ma'a Nonu will make his debut in the Major League Rugby ahead of the 2020 season after he was signed by San Diego Legion.

The move will also mark an end to his second stint with Blues after featuring for the Auckland based club for the first time in 2012 and rejoining them during the 2019 season.

Having represented Wellington, Hurricanes, Ricoh Black Rams, Highlanders and Toulon in the past, Nonu, who will turn 38 in May next year will ply his trade in the United States for the first time.

The 6ft centre played for New Zealand 103 times since making his debut in 2003 and is among the 20 players in the history of the game to win two World Cups when the All Blacks clinched the title during the 2011 and 2015 editions.

San Diego Legion ended as the runners-up in the 2019 Major League Rugby season when they were defeated by the eventual champions Seattle Seawolves 23-26 in the final.
