England and Bristol prop Ellis Genge sidelined by hamstring injury

England and Bristol prop Ellis Genge will spend time on the sidelines following a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old picked the injury during a training session and has been ruled out of their European opener against Lyon at Ashton Gate in the weekend.

Bristol Bears released a statement that Genge will undergo rehabilitation but will return ahead of England's upcoming 2024 Six Nations campaign.

“Genge picked up a hamstring injury in training but is expected to return to action ahead of England’s 2024 Six Nations campaign,” read an update on the Bristol Bears website.

Bristol are grouped in Pool 1 of the Investec Champions Cup along with Saracens, Connacht, Lyon, Vodacom Bulls and Union Bordeaux-Begles.
